Melissa Curtis is an Enrolled Agent with over 27 years of experience in tax preparation, planning, and IRS representation. For the past 20 years, she has been a valued member of Police Tax, specializing in preparing individual, business, and trust tax returns.

Coming from a family of retired law enforcement officers, Melissa has a personal connection to many of the clients she serves. She understands the unique financial and tax considerations faced by law enforcement and other public service professionals, and she takes pride in providing knowledgeable, trustworthy, and confidential guidance tailored to their needs.

As a federally licensed Enrolled Agent, Melissa is authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service in all 50 states. Throughout her career, she has successfully assisted clients with audits, examinations, and complex IRS correspondence—helping them resolve issues efficiently and achieve favorable outcomes. Her clients value her calm, thorough, and solution-oriented approach, as well as her commitment to keeping them informed and confident throughout the process.

Dave Maro has been a valued member of the PoliceTax team since 2004, bringing over two decades of specialized experience in tax preparation and advisory services. As an IRS Enrolled Agent (E.A.), he is federally licensed to represent clients in all tax matters before the IRS, and he takes pride in helping individuals and small businesses navigate complex tax situations with confidence and accuracy.

Dave’s clients include law enforcement professionals, small business owners, and a wide range of working professionals who rely on his attention to detail, integrity, and practical financial insight.

Before transitioning full-time into tax and accounting, Dave served for more than 30 years in public service, including investigative and leadership roles with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation. His background in investigations and compliance gives him a unique perspective on precision, documentation, and ethical standards—qualities that define his approach to tax work today.

Tax Accountant

Dave Webster has been with Police Tax for the past 8 years and brings significant experience. Dave is an expert in tax resolution and has won numerous cases against the Internal Revenue Service and the Franchise Tax Board. Dave’s expertise has saved clients over $3 million in the past 5 years by removing penalties, erroneous balances, levies, and liens.

Before joining our firm as an accountant, Dave worked as a Deputy with the LASD and a Police Officer with the City of Ventura. Dave worked numerous assignments in his 17 years in law enforcement, including Custody, Patrol, Detectives, SWAT, and FTO.

Dave holds a BA degree from UCLA, graduating with departmental honors in Economics and History. Dave also holds the highest accreditation given by the IRS and is an Enrolled Agent with unlimited practice rights before the IRS.
